Chiral edge state coupling theory of transport in quantum anomalous Hall insulators

We propose that coupling between chiral edge states on opposite boundaries, assisted by magnetic domains or bulk defects, can produce the nonzero longitudinal resistance observed alongside Hall-resistance quantization. The mechanism offers a unified explanation for transport in magnetic topological insulators and moire superlattices.
