3D Quantum Hall Effect of Fermi Arcs in Topological Semimetals

Abstract
We show that Fermi arcs can produce a distinctive three-dimensional quantum Hall effect in topological semimetals. Weyl-node-assisted wormhole tunneling joins opposite-surface Fermi arcs into a complete Fermi loop, producing unusual three-dimensional boundary states and gate-tunable Hall conductivity plateaus.
